"Beyond the Clouds and Through the Sky" By: Amelia

Beyond the Clouds and Through the Sky

By: Amelia Pena

Have you ever wondered
what was up in the sky?
What is beyond the clouds?
Is it possible that there is
a heaven beyond the sky?

There has to be something
beyond life, is or could it
be heaven.
Will I ever be up there?
I hope so!

My Skin

My skin

By: Amelia Pena

My skin is a battlefield
It is as if it were at war.
I have many soldiers that are in the battlefield,
fighting to the death, marching, and listening ,
as they feel what has yet to come

My skin is a bulletproof vest
Nothing is able to break through my unbreakable skin,
No matter how difficult it is my skin is like a watch dog.
They say my skin is weak, but nothing has got through it,
so how can it be weak, but it is strong
My skin is my skin.

Dog of Pompeii

I can use one word to describe both Bimbo and Tito. One word I would use to describe Bimbo is selfless. One quote from the text that shows that Bimbo is selfless says, "Then, suddenly, he understood. Bimbo was telling him the way out - urging him there. He turned, Bimbo guiding him across open pits and dangerous pools of bubbling mud, away from buildings that had caught fire and were dropping their burning beams." I picked this quote because it shows how the dog is so selfless, that instead of running off to save his own life, he stayed and helped Tito get away from the burning buildings. He put his own life in danger to save another life instead of his.
One word to describe Tito is observant.  One quote from the text that shows that Tito is observant in the text says, "Tito could not see the faces of the actors, he could follow the play better than most of the audience, for their attention wandered - they were distracted by the scenery, the costumes, the by-play, even themselves - while Tito's whole attention was centered in what he heard." I picked this quote because it shows that while he is in the theater and can't really see there faces to observe, he is observing by what he is hearing, he is paying close attention to what is said.

The story "God Sees the Truth but Waits" by Leo Tolstoy shows Ivan Askenof's trouble by his wife's foreshadowed dream of him. A quote in the story that I think best foreshadows Ivan's eventual trouble is, "As he was saying good-bye to his family, his wife said to him, 'Ivan, do not go today. I had a bad dream about you. Please stay home.'" This quote shows me that Askenof's wife doesn't want him to go to the fair because she has a bad feeling and dream about him. This shows me that the wife may be right by her dream and she gives us an idea that probably something is going to happen to her husband.

Characterization : An occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge

An occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by: Ambrose Beirce. A word I would use to describe the man in the story is afraid or innocent even though it says just to use one word to describe the man there is two that I think will fit the character. In the text it says, "If I could free my hands," He thought, " I might pull off the noose and jump into the stream. I could swim to the shore, run into the woods, and get away home," This quote shows me that the man is scared for his life and just wants to go home. Also in the text the author says, "My wife and children are still far away from the enemy. Those were the thoughts that flashed into the brain of the doomed man. At that moment, the captain gave the signal." Now this tells me that maybe he has been captured by some kind of enemy that he is glad is not with his family, so it makes me think the man is both scared and innocence.

Characterization : Hatchet

In the story Hatchet by: Gary Paulson the character Brian is secretive. In the text, for instance, it says, "No, not secrets so much as just the secret. What he knew and had not told anybody. What he knew about his mother that had caused the divorce, what he knew -the Secret." Here the author is trying to show that Brian hasn't told anybody the secret about his mom because he wants to keep it a secret, since his mom doesn't know he knows. The author tries to show that Brian is in a awkward position because now he is not only in the middle of his mom and dad's divorce, but he knows why it is happening and his father doesn't. This shows me that Brian is secretive.
