These are
my top ten books that I have read throughout my life, that have influenced me
to be the person I am today. These books inspired me in many ways and I hope
that they will inspire you too.
1.
Are You
out there God? by Sister Mary Rose McGeady
This is one of my favorite books of all time, mainly because it
was filled with a bunch of short stories that are told by kids that have
suffered pain more than any person in the world. It is a non-fiction book, so
it is true. These stories that are written in this book have showed me what is
happening out in the world that most people see, but don’t understand. This is
a great book that is worth reading, it will truly make your heart heavy.
2.
The Summer
I turned Pretty trilogy by Jenny Han
The summer I turned Pretty trilogy is a romantic novel, but has
some important messages within it that you can see if you look closely. This
book is mainly about a girl named Belly, her brother, Steven and their two
friends, Conrad and Jeremiah, that they have known since they were little.
Belly has had a crush on one of their close friends since she was little, but
one summer she finds herself in a complicated situation, where she is stuck
between them, not knowing who to choose. Something happens though that changes
all of their lives forever. What happened? Who will she choose and how will
they all end up?
3.
The Fault
in Our Stars by John Green
Love is something powerful. FIOS, has influenced me in so many
ways that I could barely put it into words. This book has taught me what love
is supposed to be like. It has taught me that if you have a sickness or
disability to never let it hold you back from any of your dreams. Hazel, is a
girl that has dreams, but sometimes her sickness prevents her from living, but
its not until she meets Augustus Waters, that she realizes that she doesn’t
have to let it hold her back. He teaches her so many things, that she couldn’t
help but fall in love with him at the end. Both, Hazel and Augustus have a type
of sickness and no one knows what’s going to happen to them in the end. Will
their powerful love end at some time soon? Will they be able to fight for each other?
4.
Divergent
Series by Veronica Roth
This is one of my favorite series, due to Tris Prior and Tobias
Eaton. This Novel series is amazing because it showed me how one person can
really make a difference in society. Tris is different from others, she’s
special, her mind works differently from other people and sometimes that could
cause trouble for her. No one knows her secret, but soon Tobias (her love)
finds out and tries to protect her in any way he can. What’s her secret? Who is
he protecting her from?
5.
The
Secrets of Attraction by Robin Constantine
The Secrets of Attraction is another romantic novel. It is one
of my favorite novels mainly because of how it is written in two different
point of views. This one specific novel that has inspired me to see how two
people, who don’t really know anything about each other, never talked, and
rarely made eye contact could fall in love. The two main characters in the book
are Madison Pryce and Jesse McMann. Madison is the pretty, popular girl and
Jesse is the quiet, rocker guy. Jesse works at a café, that Madison goes to
every Thursday, but they have never talked, until one day Jesse gets up the courage
to start a conversation with Madison. They start out as friends, but soon see
that they might actually have feelings for each other.
6.
The
Vampire Diaries Series by L.J. Smith
The Vampire Diaries series are very complex books. They are
science fiction novels because they have to due with wolves, witches, vampires,
and hybrids. The books take place mainly in a town called Mystic Falls, a town
that seems to lure in unwanted guests that seem to cause trouble. The main
characters are Elena, Stefan, Damon, Matt, and Bonnie, and also Meredith.
They’ve all got something special about them. This book series has inspired me
because it shows Elena, Bonnie, and Meredith be brave and have great strength.
These books show how girls can do whatever they want and set their minds to.
7.
The Hunger
Games Series by Suzanne Collins
The Hunger Games is one of my favorite book series because it
is more of an action book series and has a lot of conflict. Katniss Everdeen
has taught many people, who have read the hunger games series to be brave and
never back down for what’s right. These books inspire people to go for what
they believe in and not care what anyone has to say or do to try and stop them.
Katniss is a girl, who has been chosen to fight for her life, and kill in order
to stay alive, but she also kills for Peeta to live. Katniss and Peeta fight
for each other against the capitol. Why do they fight?
8.
Chicken
Soup for the Teenage Soul by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor
Hansen, and Kimberly Kirdberger
This one book is an amazing read because it tells stories that
could really help someone in life. This book is made up of stories of real life
people that are to give advice to children. There are different types of
stories, for example they talk about friendship, love, and respect for oneself
and others. These are truly inspirational stories and some can really make your
heart heavy.
9.
Wonder by
R.J. Palacio
I first read the novel Wonder
in 4th grade and it was honestly one of the most inspiring
books. The novel is about a boy name August (Auggie), he was born with facial
abnormality, so he’s different from other kids and sometimes/most of the time
that could be hard. August in his own mind is like any average kid, but once in
a while, when he is around other kids, he realizes that he is different and the
other kids get scared. This novel could be sad, but it could also be very eye
opening, it inspired me and it could inspire you.
10. Romeo & Juliet by Folger
Shakespeare
Everyone
knows the story of Romeo & Juliet, but most people don’t understand it.
Romeo & Juliet are supposed to enemies, they’re supposed to hate each
other, like their families do. They are supposed to do so many things
differently, but instead they fall in love, they fall so much in love that they
don’t really see what could go wrong because they believe they are good at
keeping it a secret. Honestly that could possibly be true, that they are good
at keeping it a secret, but something happens that turns they’re whole
fairytale into a nightmare. They fight though for each other and they’re love
that could last for eternity. What happens in the end? Will they’re love
actually last for eternity?
I found myself wondering throughout your post, what is your favorite genre? I could tell you read stories that have morals to it, and are emotional. If I were you, I wouldn't end the descriptions on why the books are your favorites or how they influenced you with questions.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I will definitely keep that in mind for next time.
DeleteYour blog has given me an insight on some of these books just by reading a quick paragraph about them. I think that you did a great job explaining the stories by putting enough details to give us an idea on what they were about but enough to not spoil it. Good job, Amelia!
ReplyDeleteThese are some cool books. Your blog is really nice and you have inspired me to read some of these books. I think i will read Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. Thanks. :)
